NITextile participated in the Digital Product Passport Conference
On December 10th, NIT – NITextile participated in the “Conference on Digital Product Passport – Effective Strategies”, organized by IAPMEI at ISAG – European Business School.
At this event it was possible to watch the demonstration of some proofs of concept of projects carried out by CITEVE and CTCP within the scope of the Digital Product Passport (PDP), as well as understand the next steps and goals for implementing the PDP in the textile and footwear sector, as well as in other areas, such as food and construction.

The PDP has the potential to revolutionize the value chain of the textile and footwear sector, promoting traceability, circularity and transparency at all stages of the product life cycle.
Based on a strategy aligned with the European Union’s ecological and digital transition, the DPP will be more than a technological tool, it can become a facilitator of sustainable practices and a vehicle to promote the circular economy.
By providing detailed information about the composition, origin and environmental impact of a product, the PDP will enable more informed choices for consumers, while supporting brands, producers, regulators and recyclers in managing resources and processes.
However, it has become clear that effective implementation of the PDP presents complex challenges, such as:
1️⃣The diversity of the textile and footwear value chain;
2️⃣The need for data standardization;
3️⃣The protection of confidential information;
4️⃣The normalization of processes;
5️⃣The interoperability of different systems;
6️⃣The reliability of the data collected;
7️⃣The costs for companies.
The PDP will be mandatory in the coming years, which is why it is recommended that companies start working now to organize themselves internally and externally for data collection.

NITextile can support your company in developing effective strategies for implementing the PDP in your company.
