NIT-NITextile Shares UFC Experience
Day June 9, 2025 – The Federal University of Ceará (UFC), in Brazil, was the stage for an important exchange of knowledge and experiences in the field of sustainable fashion. The founder and CEO of NIT-NITextile, Juliana Cruz, participated as a guest speaker in the class of the curricular unit Fashion Management and Trend Analysis, in the Fashion, Design and Styling course. The session was organized by teachers Artemísia Caldas and Simone Albuquerque, and its central theme was Circular Fashion and the New Opportunities that emerge from this paradigm.
During the talk, Juliana Cruz highlighted the systemic challenges that the fashion industry faces in the face of growing environmental, social and economic pressures. He highlighted that the transition to circular models is not just a passing trend, but an urgent need to ensure the resilience of the sector and the planet.
The CEO of NIT-NITextile presented innovative approaches that integrate sustainability, circularity and technology from the beginning of the design process to the end of the products’ life cycle. Strategies such as design for longevity, repairability, creative upcycling, reuse of materials, and the use of renewable and non-renewable resources were discussed. toxic.
Another key point was the development of digital product passports, a tool that promotes traceability and transparency, adding value to the end consumer and reinforcing the responsibility of brands along the value chain.
Juliana Cruz also challenged students to rethink the role of the designer in the 21st century — not just as creators of aesthetics, but as agents of change, capable of influencing systems and creating regenerative, inclusive and economically viable solutions.
